AI Weather Quest: Pre-Competition Webinar (morning slot)

The ECMWF AI Weather Quest is an international competition leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to advance weather forecasting. 

During the Competitive Phase, starting on 14 August 2025, participating teams will submit weekly real-time sub-seasonal forecasts using their AI models. ECMWF will evaluate these submissions using the Ranked Probability Skill Score (RPSS) and display top-performing results each week on the AI Weather Quest website.

To help participants prepare, ECMWF is hosting two interactive one-hour webinars on 22 July 2025. The sessions are identical—participants are invited to register for the one that best suits their time zone.

Each session will feature:

• An update on the number of teams registered for the competition.

• Key insights from the JJA Testing Period (15 May – 13 August 2025).

• An overview of the Competitive Phase, including a deep dive into the forecasts visualisation portal as well as how results will be displayed.

• A live Q&A session with the organisers.
