The ESiWACE center of excellence supported DYAMOND (The DYnamics of the Atmospheric general circulation Modeled On Non-hydrostatic Domains), the first intercomparison project of global storm-resolving models of the atmosphere.

These models are able to explicitly resolve and simulate convective storms and have the potential to substantially improve the physical foundation for simulations of the Earth's climate and climate change and to lead to improved forecasts of severe weather on local and global scales.

ESiWACE2 is set to extend this exercise from atmosphere only to coupled models of the atmosphere and the ocean
