The ESiWACE3 Consortium has opened a new round of Call for Proposals (CfP) to apply for the services provided by the 3rd phase of ESiWACE - Center of Excellence in Simulation of Weather and Climate in Europe. On this occasion, two types of services can be required:

  • Service 1 “Collaborations to prepare Europe’s Weather and Climate Models for pre-exascale Systems": This service offers collaborative projects in which ESiWACE experts provide advice and engineering effort to the applicant. This call aims to support the exascale preparations for the European Earth-System Models (ESM) community.

The call is open to all groups developing and maintaining ESM codes, not only the ESiWACE3 partners. It will run from 4 March 2024 at 14:00 h CET until 3 June 2024 at 14:00 h CET. Proposals will be subject to review regarding technical feasibility by the service-providing partners and undergo a review more focussed on scientific impact by an external committee. When found eligible, the project will be granted an in-kind contribution by one of the partners (or a combination thereof).

This CfP has been prepared by the Netherlands eScience Center, Eviden (an ATOS business), the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS), and the Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum (DKRZ) within the ESiWACE3 Center of Excellence framework.

More information, as well as the instructions to apply for the services, can be found here.

  • Service 2 "Services on state-of-the-art development tools for Weather and Climate": This service offers support for tools developed by ESiWACE partners.
