The POP project is a recently started EU Center of Excellence with the long term objective of improving the practices and widen the reach of performance analysis in parallel programming. The increasing complexity of our systems makes extremely important to increase the amount of insight on the actual behaviour of applications and systems to be able to gain such insight in the minimum possible time. This information is needed to improve the efficiency of operation of our infrastructures and to maximize the productivity of our code refactoring efforts.
At the short term, the project focuses on providing performance assessment services. Target "customers" for these services include application developers and infrastructure operators, but also vendors and users.
