How Do you apply?

Application is simple: check our website for upcoming training events, eligibility details, and deadlines. Apply online by filling out a short form. Some events may have limited spots or selection criteria, so early application is encouraged.

    ESIWACE3

    Training Materials Overview We offer a range of training materials covering key HPC topics within ESIWACE2’s pre-exascale expertise, including:

    • I/O (Input/Output)
    • Computation (DSLS, C++, coupling software)
    • Data analytics
    • Containerization

    These trainings help scientists and engineers enhance skills in optimizing climate and weather applications on tier-0 supercomputers, boosting HPC awareness in the community.

    Available Training Sets

    • Summer School 2024: Advanced atmospheric sciences and HPC topics, with lectures and practicals on numerical modeling, HPC, ICON, GPU programming, and AI in climate modeling. Link here and here.

    • Extrae and Paraver: Profiling Weather and Climate Applications training material: The material we used for the “Extrae and Paraver: Profiling Weather and Climate Applications” training is in the “students” branch of this repository. Link here.

    • Summer School 2025 (HPC4Climate): Focused on climate system basics, parallel programming, ICON coding challenges, and broader computational skills for master’s and early PhD students. The material can be found here.

    • Kernel Tuner: Training for advanced HPC researchers on optimizing GPU applications using Kernel Tuner, including slides and Jupyter notebooks for hands-on learning. Link here and here.

    Open Educational Resources (OER) All materials are freely available online under a CC-BY license, allowing educators and researchers to use and adapt them. Access the resources via the ESIWACE training pages.
