Data Compression Lab

The Online Laboratory for Climate Science and Meteorology is a server less JupyterLab environment that runs entirely in the user’s web browser. It provides a ready-to-try Python environment with popular scientific Python libraries, particularly for meteorology and Earth sciences. The online laboratory allows users to share Jupyter notebooks that can be run in a reproducible environment that requires no installation, e.g. to share interactive teaching materials or share research results.

Key features
The Online Laboratory for Data Compression in Meteorology and Climate Science is a collection of Jupyter notebooks that are hosted in the online laboratory. These notebooks introduce and explore compression of weather and climate model outputs and provide several example datasets with on different compression methods can be evaluated. The compression laboratory thus serves as a ready-to-go introduction and experimenting playground to allow researchers to try out data compression for themselves and a reduced barrier of entry, with their own data or example data.
